New Documentary Film Provides Unvarnished Footage of Bush's Rush to War in Iraq

Film Creates Unique Framework on the March to War

CONCORD, Mass., March 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The new documentary film, LEADING TO WAR, along with a deeply researched website www.LeadingtoWar.com, provides a compelling vision, made up of network news footage, of the 14 months of manipulation by the Bush Administration leading to the invasion of Iraq. This undeniably powerful footage, presented in the Administration's own words, is offered in an unprecedented 19 languages available for free download over the Internet. This film and website provide a potent new resource on Bush's blueprint for war in Iraq.

In clip after clip, LEADING TO WAR highlights how the Bush Administration generated false claims of imminent danger to rush the nation to war. This calculated strategy of manipulating the public is exemplified by the Administration's use of scenarios such as Iraqi Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) launched off the coast of America flying hundreds of miles inland to attack our country. Without narration or commentary, the film chronologically documents the rhetorical spin that eventually roused the American people to support a military invasion.

Award-winning director Barry J. Hershey began the project in 2005 with the realization that a film with a minimalist style could provide a powerful perspective on these historic events. Hershey intends that the self-funded film serve as a resource for understanding how a country is misled into war. To make the film easily accessible, the filmmaker has pursued unconventional methods of distribution and has made the film available for free download or streaming at www.LeadingtoWar.com.

"It is critical that everyone see how the Bush administration manipulated and misled the U.S. public into this unwarranted war," said Hershey. "Future generations will look back on and study the war in Iraq, and they will want to know how we were misled into one of America's greatest quagmires."

The launch of LEADING TO WAR comes as the Senate Intelligence Committee prepares to release a detailed critique of the Bush Administration's pre-war claims. The in-depth analysis of pre-war claims available on the companion website, www.LeadingtoWar.com, includes subsections such as "Bush Administration Claims vs. The Facts" and "Abuses and Misuses of Intelligence."
