Gridiron Bash(TM) Fan Competition Heats Up, With Alabama Leading All Other Schools, Including LSU

$1.75 Million in Scholarships Being Split Among Three Universities With Highest Votes and Live Event Attendance at Stadium

NEW YORK, March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The first-ever Gridiron Bash(TM) has launched the text component of its Ultimate Fan Competition(TM), enabling fans of the country's top football schools to text in votes for their university and increase the chances that their school will split the $1.75 million being given to General Scholarship Funds.

Tied to spring football games and including pep rallies and live concerts with nationally known names at football stadiums, the Gridiron Bash(TM) fan competition -- being billed as the USA TODAY Bash for Cash Series(TM) -- will be based 70% on fan attendance at Gridiron Bash(TM) events (all except for three Gridiron Bash events are being held April 18th, the Friday before spring games) and 30% on text in votes. The roster of participating schools with performing artist match-ups has been finalized and includes: Penn State- Fergie; Iowa-Kelly Clarkson; Utah-Maroon 5; Alabama-Alan Jackson; Colorado- Counting Crows; Texas A&M-ZZ Top; LSU-Kid Rock and Sara Evans; Kansas State- Goo Goo Dolls; Tennessee-Taylor Swift and Montgomery Gentry; Maryland-Good Charlotte and O.A.R.; South Carolina-Black Crowes; West Virginia-Dwight Yoakam; Arizona State-3 Doors Down; Kentucky-Dierks Bentley & Wynonna; Army-John Legend; Rutgers-special guest, and Colorado State (pending).

"Having the Gridiron Bash in Tiger Stadium the night before our spring game will bring a great deal of excitement to what is already a highly anticipated weekend on the LSU campus," says LSU coach Les Miles. "We are always looking for different ways to engage the fans at our events, and this fan competition will certainly give them that opportunity."

Daily school standings are being posted on www.gridironbash.com, as well as information on how to place a text vote for your school. The website also features "talkin' smack" video being taken as the Gridiron Bash(TM) RV tour hits each competing campus and listens to fans talking about their rival schools. Fans place votes for their schools by texting their school's keyword to 23909. See chart below. Results are also being displayed in weekly national advertisements in both the Sports and Life sections of USA Today.

"In the five days that we've had our text-in component of the fan competition up and running, we've seen dramatic shifts in which schools are taking the lead. It's getting pretty exciting," says Shawn Garrity, president of MSL Sports and Entertainment, creators and producers of Gridiron Bash(TM). "The fun, the spirit, the talking smack between schools ... that's what this is all about."

Currently, Alabama leads in the USA TODAY Bash for Cash standings over all other schools. Texas A&M is in second place, and Penn State is in 3rd place.

To vote, text your school's keyword to 23909: Text Keyword to: 23909 School Keyword Alabama BAMA Arizona State ASU Army ARMY Colorado CU Colorado State CSU Iowa IOWA Kansas State KSU Kentucky BIG BLUE LSU LSU Maryland UM Penn State PSU Rutgers RU South Carolina USC Tennessee VOLS Texas A&M TAM Utah UTES West Virginia WVU
