Brit Music Talent Showcases in Texas
DUNDEE, Scotland, March 5/PRNewswire/ --
- Clash Magazine Announce SXSW Festival Showcase With Carbon/Silicon; The Pigeon Detectives; Make Model; Noah and the Whale; Peggy Sue and the Pirates, all Appearing at Friends, 208 E.6th Street, Austin, Texas
Clash Magazine, the forward-thinking award winning music magazine, is thrilled to announce its showcase at this year's South By South West festival, on Thursday 13th March 2008.
Following the tremendous success of our inaugural event last year, the Clash Live team return to Austin, Texas, for another exemplary collection of the finest British talent emerging this year.
While the Clash showcase in 2007 brought the world's attention to Jack Penate, Plan B, The Rumble Strips, The Holloways, The Sunshine Underground and Fujiya & Miyagi, this year we have excelled ourselves with quite possibly the world's most famous breaking band as the headliners, and a host of refined Clash staples joining them for the trans-Atlantic occasion.
Indulging in some impetuous Tex-Mex action with Clash next month are:
Carbon/Silicon
The combination of Generation X's Tony James and The Clash's Mick Jones, Carbon/Silicon released their debut CD 'The Last Post' at the end of 2007 after a run of Internet-only albums. Their pedigree and pioneering spirit infuses the new music with a modern punk sound that is sure to rock the foundations of Austin. Clash play Clash - imagine the headlines!

The Pigeon Detectives
Also returning for a second stab at 6th Street, Leeds indie quintet The Pigeon Detectives have a year of sell-out dates and a dynamic album behind them this time. The Americans couldn't fail to be won over by Dance To The Radio's vital signings; we certainly are.

Make Model
Another great Scottish export, Make Model inspire comparisons to Arcade Fire and Broken Social Scene, such is their grand outlook, but a subtle blend of folk roots and sampled beats sets them apart from their Stateside elders. We'll have the crowd dancing all the way to Dallas...

Noah and The Whale
The latest signings to the always-brilliant Young And Lost Club Records is this dreamy London anti-folk outfit. As heartwarming as they are vivacious, they defy their years with world-weary and endearing cynical pop. Not to be missed.

Peggy Sue and The Pirates
One guitar and two singers - it worked for Simon And Garfunkel and man does it work for this Brighton duo. Rosa Slade and Katy Young forge sweet soulful acoustic pop peppered with weird sounds and stories. Kate Nash loved them so much she brought them out on tour. We can see why.
