Guinness World Records TV has secured a two hour live prime time show on NBC, due to air on January 27, 2008 at 9:00 PM (EST). Produced by Endemol subsidiary True Entertainment, this one-off special entitled Guinness World Records Live: Top 100 will feature a countdown of the 100 greatest Guinness World Records in history, including some of the most memorable and wacky records ever attempted, such as Longest Fingernails (24 feet, 7.8 inches), Longest Freefall Parachute Jump (80,380 feet) and the Most Time Spent in Space (803 days, 9 hours and 39 minutes) to name a few.
The two hour show will culminate at Universal City, Los Angeles with a LIVE stunt, the LONGEST MOTORCYCLE TUNNEL OF FIRE. Performed live for the first time on US television, expert stunt rider Clint Ewing, will attempt to break the current record of 178 ft 10.4 set in China last year...while being lit on fire himself! Watch history in the making as Guinness World Records will be on hand to certify the attempt.
Popular UK television personality, Fearne Cotton, (Top of the Pops, Live 8, Eurovision Song Contest, The Xtra Factor, Brit Awards) will host this record breaking countdown as she takes the viewers through GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS LIVE: TOP 100!
Rob Molloy, Director of Television at Guinness World Records, said "This commission with one of America's biggest networks shows the huge appeal of working with the Guinness World Records brand on TV. The versatility of our content means it can be tailored for almost any channel and audience and we hope success with this show will lead to more collaborations between us and NBC in 2008."
Guinness World Records TV will be exhibiting at NATPE 2008 (booth 715) where they are looking to secure other original commissions all over the globe.
