SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- On the heels of the just released new CD+DVD collections, the best of MEET THE EELS: ESSENTIAL EELS VOL. 1, 1996 - 2006 (CD+DVD) and the rarities USELESS TRINKETS: B-SIDES, SOUNDTRACKS, RARITIES AND UNRELEASED 1996-2006 (2CD+DVD) on Geffen/UMe, EELS announce a US tour starting March 28 in Philadelphia.

The CD+DVD collections celebrate the first ten years of the critically acclaimed and ever-changing entity (1996-2006), while the tour finds them performing at some unusual venues (the First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia and the Sixth & I Historic Synagogue in Washington, DC, among them). EELS leader Mark Oliver Everett aka E was recently the subject of a highly acclaimed BBC documentary film about himself and his father and has also written a book, "THINGS THE GRANDCHILDREN SHOULD KNOW," already a bestseller in England, it will be published this fall in the U.S. A recent EELS show at St. James Church in London found The Who's Pete Townshend on stage reading from the book. EELS are planning to purchase one-second of Super Bowl television air time to advertise the new rarities collections, USELESS TRINKETS.
