NEW YORK, Dec. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- As it heads into its 14th year as basic cable's number-one net in total day with kids and adults, Nickelodeon will close 2007 in first place among total viewers (P2+) and at number-one with all core kids' demos. According to Nielsen Media Research for the year-to-date (1/1/07-12/9/07), Nick delivered 2.1 million total viewers - +25% ahead of the next closest-ranked network - and averaged a 3.5/1.2 million Kids 2-11 and a 3.3/674,000 Kids 6-11, ahead of Cartoon Network by 94% in K2-11 (1.8/611,000) and Disney Channel by +21% (2.9/974,000 K2-11).
In fourth quarter 2007 to date (10/1/07-12/9/07), Nickelodeon also led in total day in the total viewer and kid demographics, delivered 2.2 million P2+ - up +28% over the next closest-ranked network - and generated a 3.5/1.2 million Kids 2-11 - +25% ahead of its nearest competitor. Nickelodeon also averaged a leading 3.1/660,000 with Kids 6-11 and a 2.3/488,000 among tweens 9-14.
The Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group also generated huge growth in the digital space in 2007, earning the top spot, according to comScore, in terms of visitors against competitors Disney Online and Cartoon Network Online. The Nick Kids and Family Group of sites also averaged more than 88 minutes per its 23.5 million visitors for 2007, up +5% over its nearest competitor in terms of uniques. The Kids and Family Group also served up 7.7 billion game plays across its digital portfolio in 2007. Nickelodeon, among its broadband (TurboNick, Nick Jr. Video and Parents TV), video-on-demand, and wireless platforms combined, accumulated more than 2 billion content streams for the year.

Nickelodeon's 2007 television performance-to-date on television was marked by a number of highly successful programming events such as the premieres of new live-action series iCarly and The Naked Brothers Band, the 20th Annual Kids' Choice Awards, preschool topper Dora the Explorer, the underwater SpongeBob SquarePants "Atlantis SquarePantis" event, and more.
-- Nickelodeon's live-action series, iCarly, the first scripted series to incorporate kid-created original content, proved to be a hit on-air ranking among the top five tween series for the year and the highest rated program on all of TV in its time period with kids 6-11 and 9-14, and on digital platforms as well. The premiere (Sept. 8, 8 p.m. ET/PT) earned a spot as one of the most-watched live action series premiere ever on Nick. Season-to-date, the series draws an average of 5.9/1.2 million viewers (K6-11) and a 5.2/1.1 million tweens 9-14. To date (9/8/07-12/2/07), www.icarly.com has received more than 6.1 million visits, averaging more than 370,000 visitors per week. In addition, 73,000 kids have uploaded content to the site, and the series has earned 8.1 million streams on TurboNick. -- Nickelodeon's hit "mockumentary" comedy series, The Naked Brothers Band, has become one of the top-rated series for kids 6-11 for the year. The series' first one-hour television movie, Battle of the Bands (Oct. 6, 8 p.m. ET/PT), delivered a strong 3.8 million total viewers (P2+), garnering double-digit percentage increases with key kid demos compared to 2006. The Naked Brothers Band is a multiplatform hit as well, generating 92 million streams on TurboNick year-to-date, 52 million game plays online and 113,000 iTunes downloads in 2007. -- Nick Jr. continues to dominate preschool programming with seven out of 10 of the top weekday preschool shows on television, including the number-one program, Dora the Explorer. In her latest primetime TV movie, Dora Saves the Mermaids (Nov. 5, 7 p.m.-8 p.m.) scored as the highest-rated Nick Jr. primetime movie in four years and the series' second highest-rated prime-time special ever. In 2007, Nick Jr.'s top five preschool properties during the programming week (Dora the Explorer (#1); The Backyardigans! (#2); The WonderPets! (#3); Go, Diego, Go! The 2007 KCA also set a new record with kids 6-11 as the highest-rated ever, and secured double-digit ratings increases among kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14 over last year's record-setting show. An average of 8.8 million total viewers tuned in to the show's first-ever TV movie, leading Nick to its highest-rated total day of the year with kids 2-11 and kids 6-11. Year-to-Date Multiplatform/Digital Highlights: -- Among Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group's 7.7 billion game plays in 2007, Neopets.com led the way with 2.8 billion. Nick.com served up 1.1 billion, up +30% over 2006 and NickJr.com garnered approximately 940 million, up +24% versus 2006. Other sites such as AddictingGames.com, Shockwave.com, Noggin.com and The-N.com brought in yearly game play totals of 1.7 million, 446 million, 154 million and 222 million, respectively. -- According to Rentrak, on its video-on-demand platform, Nickelodeon set a new yearly network record with more than 200 million streams for the year (combined Nick and Nick Jr. requests) and ends 2007 as the number-one free-on-demand provider in the kids' space in terms of orders. -- On broadband, Nickelodeon served up almost 1.4 billion streams in 2007 (Source: Omniture Site Catalyst 1/1/07-12/4/07), up +357% over 2006.
