Justice Through Music Releases New Music Video to Focus Attention on the Genocide in Darfur

WASHINGTON, Dec. 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Justice Through Music, http://www.jtmp.org/, a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring youth to get involved in important causes, just released a new music video called, "Black Specter, The Killing Of Darfur." Watch it here on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynkIQFQUj4U. The video focuses attention on the genocide of black Africans that is occurring in Darfur by the Janjaweed militia and the Sudanese government. The human toll is staggering with almost a half million killed, three million displaced and three and a half million receiving food aid. The White House could stop this killing with an enforced no-fly zone but has failed to lead on this issue.

Justice Through Music worked closely with Brian Steidle who was an unarmed military observer in Darfur for six months and this new video includes never before published photos taken by him. He became so frustrated with the lack of action that he brought the photos back to the US and took them to the New York Times for a full expose'. This led to a full feature documentary movie called "The Devil Came on Horseback" that opened to wide acclaim this fall. http://www.thedevilcameonhorseback.com/. Brian kindly made all of his photos available to JTM for this video. Other footage was donated by the Save Darfur coalition, http://www.savedarfur.org/.

This video is a call to action directed toward young people. JTM asks them to get involved by making noise, calling Congress, writing the media and demanding results from the White House and international community.

Justice Through Music works with famous bands to register young people to vote and has created activist music and videos seen and heard over a million times on the Internet. "Black Specter" was written by Brett Kimberlin and recorded by the band Op-Critical, http://www.myspace.com/opcritical. Brett is available for interviews.
