New Lifetime Every Woman Counts Poll Shows Presidential Candidates Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani Women's Guests of Choice at Thanksgiving Dinner Table

- Clinton and Giuliani Named Most Likely Candidates to Give a Thoughtful Gift and Most Trusted to Watch Kids While Women Shop this Holiday Season -

NEW YORK, Nov. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Lifetime Networks today announced the results of a nationally representative poll of women revealing that Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani are the most welcomed Thanksgiving guests, thoughtful gift givers and trusted babysitters. The poll was released as part of Lifetime's nonpartisan, award-winning Every Woman Counts campaign. First launched in 1992 and now entering its fifth presidential election cycle, the initiative was created to ensure that issues important to women are part of the dialogue during election season, while encouraging women to run for public office, register and vote.

   Guess Who's Coming to Thanksgiving Dinner   -- Among the Democratic candidates, Hillary Clinton and her family (31%)      are the most popular dinner guests according to women polled.  Barack      Obama and his family (19%) are next in line for seats at the table,      followed by John Edwards and his family (15%).   -- Of the Republican candidates, Rudy Giuliani and his family (22%) were      the most likely to receive invitations to Thanksgiving dinner, followed      by John McCain (17%) and Fred Thompson (10%).   -- Approximately one-fifth of women polled do not want the extra company      this holiday season and would prefer to dine with their families alone.   -- Nearly half of the Democratic women polled (47%) want Hillary, Bill and      family to be their special guests at dinner.  However, Barack, Michelle      and his family were the #1 Democratic choice among Republican women      polled (23%).    And the Award for Best Gift Giver Goes to ...   -- Women prefer to receive gifts from Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani      this holiday season.  Women polled said Clinton (31%) would be the best      gift giver among the Democratic candidates, followed by John Edwards      (14%) and Barack Obama (11%).  Among the Republican candidates, Rudy      Giuliani is considered the most thoughtful (18%), followed by McCain      (13%) and Fred Thompson (8%)   -- According to Democratic women polled, Hillary Clinton is roughly three      times more likely to be thoughtful in her giving (41%) than her nearest      opponents Barack Obama and John Edwards (both at 13%).   -- Among the Republican women polled, frontrunner Giuliani (23%) is      considered twice as likely to give a caring gift as his nearest      opponent, John McCain (12%), and three times more likely than third-      place candidate Fred Thompson (7%).   

When Women Do Their Holiday Shopping, Which Candidate Should Watch the Kids?

   -- When asked which Democratic candidate one would be most comfortable      leaving her kids in the care of, the top choice was Hillary Clinton      (33%), followed by John Edwards (18%) and Barack Obama (12%).  Rudy      Giuliani (15%) was the winner among Republican candidates, with John      McCain (14%) and Mitt Romney (11%) close behind.   -- Women with children under the age of 18 were nearly three times as      likely to pick Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton (41%) than her      primary opponents John Edwards (16%) and Barack Obama (10%) as the best      suited to watch their kids.   -- Women with children under the age of 18 were twice as likely to pick      Republican candidate Rudy Giuliani (22%) over his primary opponents      John McCain (11%) and Mitt Romney (10%) as the best sitter.    Methodology:  

The Lifetime poll was conducted by Opinion Research Corporation via telephone among a nationally representative sample of 1,003 women ages 18+ in the United States. The survey was completed during the period October 25-28, 2007. Full results available upon request.
