Jason Lee Stars as the Voice of 'Dave Seville' in New Alvin and the Chipmunks Video Game This Holiday
Golden Globe-Nominated Actor of 'My Name is Earl' Fame Helps the #1 Kids Musical Act Bring Classic Chipmunk Style to Video Game
HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Nov. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Brash Entertainment announced today that Jason Lee will reprise his latest feature film role of 'Dave Seville', the famed father/manager to the lovable Alvin, Simon, and Theodore, in the upcoming video game Alvin and the Chipmunks, in stores on December 4, 2007. Lee stars in the upcoming Twentieth Century Fox live action film of the same name opening in theaters nationwide December 14, 2007.
The rhythm-based video game focuses on the Chipmunks' musical abilities with a combination of fun game play, and a popular soundtrack -- creating another way for the fans, new and old, to enjoy and expand on their Alvin and the Chipmunks experience. Offering fun for the whole family, the soundtrack boasts chart-topping songs and cult favorites spanning several decades, sung in signature Chipmunk style.
Lee stars in and co-produces the hit television comedy series, "My Name is Earl" currently in its third season on NBC. His role as 'Earl Hickey' has earned him numerous best actor nominations including a Golden Globe, SAG Award, Teen Choice Award and Kids' Choice Award. He worked with writer-director Cameron Crowe in both ALMOST FAMOUS and VANILLA SKY, and starred in such classic hit movies as MALLRATS, CHASING AMY, DOGMA, JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK and CLERKS II. Lee won an Independent Spirit Award for his role in CHASING AMY. Hailing from Southern California, Lee is an avid gamer and former professional skateboarder.
"I was flattered to have gotten the offer to play Dave Seville in the film and video game. It's Alvin and the Chipmunks, it's a classic ... and it's a role that I have never played," said Jason Lee. "I was able to go from Earl to not having to wear the mustache, to looking much different and just being in something that my kid is going to love, a game I can enjoy playing with him."
The game will be available for the PLAYSTATION(R)2 computer entertainment system, the Wii(TM) and Nintendo DS(TM) videogame systems from Nintendo, and PC. This game is scheduled to ship December 4, 2007 and is rated 'E' for Everyone by the ESRB.
