WEGENER Joins World Teleport Association
DULUTH, Ga., Oct. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wegener Corporation (NASDAQ:WGNR) , a leading provider of television, audio and data distribution networks worldwide, has joined the satellite industry trade organization, the World Teleport Association (WTA). The World Teleport Association is a non- profit organization focused on promoting the interests of public carriers and suppliers worldwide.
"We're excited to become members of WTA," said Ned L. Mountain, President and COO of WEGENER. "It's the world's leading organization for teleports. We intend to work closely with the WTA staff and other WTA members to spread the word about our revenue-generating product lines throughout the satellite community."
"WEGENER is a great addition to the World Teleport Association," said Louis Zacharilla, Director of Development, World Teleport Association. "Not only do they offer a great product set for teleport operators but are also a great resource for the organization."
WEGENER's solutions optimize end-to-end media distribution for dynamic, multi-site networks. WEGENER equipment enables the distribution of video and audio content to millions of people. Using WEGENER products, operators can launch new services, such as digital signage, MPEG-4/h.264 video, high definition (HD) video, radio broadcasting, IPTV, and file-based workflows using WEGENER's patented COMPEL(R) network control, iPump media servers, IPTV set top and the recently introduced Unity 550-2 enterprise media receiver.
The Unity 550-2 includes bandwidth-efficient MPEG-4/h.264 video coding for both standard definition and high definition, as well as advanced DVB-S2 modulation. These new technologies, when integrated with WEGENER's COMPEL network control system allow private networks considerably lower operational costs. The Unity 550-2 can stream to additional WEGENER IPTV decoders that are addressable over existing internal IP networks, providing powerful new private network architectures.
With COMPEL Network Control, receivers are controlled as individual sites and as groups. Group functions provide a network with unparalleled flexibility to target programming, commercials and file transfers. Additionally, network operators can instantly reconfigure operations. COMPEL is a field-proven product that controls millions of dollars in revenues for major broadcasters, cable programmers and private networks each day.
