Pompano Helicopters Retains PR Firm in Connection With Its $362 Million Lawsuit Against Westwood One, America's Largest Radio Network

BOCA RATON, Fla., Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Pompano Helicopters, Inc. has filed a $362 million lawsuit against America's largest radio network, Westwood One.

In two separate lawsuits, Pompano Helicopters, Inc. alleges that, Westwood and its subsidiary, Metro Networks Communications, Inc., conspired together to drive Pompano out of business for the purposes of taking over its lucrative contracts for providing broadcast stations with helicopters for news and traffic reporting.

Pompano has retained TransMedia Group Public Relations (www.transmediagroup.com) for public relations in connection with the lawsuit filed against Westwood One, Inc. in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court in Broward County, Florida. Westwood One serves more than 5,000 radio stations, providing over 150 news, sports, talk, entertainment programs, features and live events. It is managed by CBS Radio Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of CBS Corporation. CBS Radio Inc. owns 18% of the outstanding shares of Westwood.

Pompano Helicopters alleges that its once thriving business was destroyed by Westwood's spreading false and damaging information as part of a planned and orchestrated campaign of tortuous interference with contracts that Pompano ultimately lost to Westwood's subsidiary Metro. According to the lawsuit, among the false rumors Westwood spread was that Pompano was an "unsafe operator" of aircraft and eventually "someone would get killed" due to faulty maintenance.

Pompano claims the rumors consisting of bold, vicious lies were part of a transparent attempt by Westwood and Metro to take over its business, subverting key personnel usurping and utilizing Pompano's confidential business plan, which led to the cancellation of Pompano's contracts with Metro and other contracts with television stations throughout the U.S.

According to the plaintiff, Westwood's and Metro's actions were also intended to prevent a merger Pompano was to conclude which would have made the successor company one of the largest helicopter news and traffic providers in the country and a formidable competitor to Metro and Westwood.
