NTDTV Hosts First International Chinese Vocal Competition

NEW YORK, Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- New Tang Dynasty Television proudly announces the first International Chinese Vocal Competition in Kaufmann Concert Hall in New York City from October 15-17. Over one hundred top Chinese vocal talents from 20 countries, including China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Singapore, UK, Norway, Canada and U.S., will compete with their own chosen material in front of a live audience in two categories-"Chinese Folk Singing" and "Bel Canto" -- with one male and one female winner from each division taking home a $10,000 cash prize.

"This contest is consistent with the NTDTV effort to bridge East and West and to showcase authentic, classical Chinese culture for a Western audience," said NTDTV Spokesperson Carrie Hung.

Acting as artistic director and head of the Vocal Competition Committee, celebrated Chinese tenor Guan Guimin has been at the helm of the competition from the beginning.

"This is the first time ever to have an international contest in both category. It celebrates the pure beauty of traditional singing styles -- both Chinese and Western," said Guan.
