Luxury Skincare Line SK-II Names Cate Blanchett Global Ambassador
NEW YORK, Oct. 25, 2007 /PRNewswire/ -- Luxury skincare line SK-II announced today that Academy Award-winning actress Cate Blanchett has signed on to become the brand's global ambassador.
SK-II, a Procter & Gamble Beauty brand, launched over 25 years ago in Japan and three-and-a-half years ago in the United States. The line's signature ingredient, Pitera(R), contains vitamins, amino acids, minerals, and organic acids that work together to allow the skin's natural surface rejuvenation process to function at its prime.
Blanchett, who was introduced to SK-II by a friend and make-up artist, has been using it for seven years and notes, "Throughout my career, I have only accepted roles that I am passionate about, and my partnership with SK-II is no different. I truly believe I already played this role as an ambassador long before SK-II caught up with me."
Three years ago, Cate Blanchett was named brand ambassador for SK-II in her home country of Australia. "Our desire to work with Ms. Blanchett globally was a natural progression for the brand," says Shivesh Ram, Vice President and General Manager of Global SK-II. "Since first using the products seven years ago, Cate has joined the millions of women around the world who have experienced SK-II. She has shared her discovery of the 'Secret Key' to beautiful skin through her passion for and belief in our products, and the miracle of Pitera(R). We're delighted to have her expand her role within the SK-II family."
Blanchett's ambassadorship will now extend globally, and will expand beyond Australia to include the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Spain, where she will serve as the face of the brand's upcoming advertising campaign.
Currently, Cate can be seen reprising her role as Queen Elizabeth in Shekhar Kapur's "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" for Universal. In November, Cate co-stars with Christian Bale, Richard Gere and Heath Ledger in Todd Haynes' "I'm Not There," for which she was awarded Best Actress at the Venice International Film Festival. Cate recently wrapped production on the fourth installment of "Indiana Jones," with Harrison Ford, directed by Steven Spielberg. Cate has also completed production on "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," co-starring with Brad Pitt, directed by David Fincher. Both films are scheduled for a 2008 release. She is currently directing the play "Blackbird" for the Sydney Theatre Company, for which she will serve as Co- Artistic Director with her husband Andrew Upton starting in 2009.
