Landmark Theater in Oakland to Run 'An Inconvenient Truth' on Thursday to Benefit Draft Gore
OAKLAND, Calif., Oct. 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The historic Grand Lake Theater in Oakland, Calif., is lending a helping hand to the movement to draft Al Gore by hosting a day-long benefit screening of "An Inconvenient Truth" on October 25. All proceeds will benefit Draft Gore (Draftgore.com).
The Oscar-winning documentary chronicles Al Gore's efforts to raise awareness about the global warming crisis. Five performances will be held --- at 12:00, 2:30, 5:00, 7:35, and 10:00 --- in the theater's main historic auditorium, built in 1926.
Draft Gore will use the proceeds from the event to help its national advertising campaign urging Al Gore to enter the 2008 presidential race. On Oct. 10, the group bought a full-page ad in the New York Times featuring an open letter to Al Gore. The campaign is also running radio ads and will soon unveil a television commercial.
Grand Lake Theater is advertising the fundraising event on its marquee, with letters large enough to be seen from I-580 nearby.
Draft Gore is a grassroots political action committee promoting a Gore candidacy in 2008. The PAC is not affiliated with Vice President Gore's office.
