Harris Corporation Showcases Latest Developments in ONE Initiative at IBC2007
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- At the 2007 International Broadcasting Convention (IBC), Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) , an international communications and information technology company, is showcasing the latest developments in its ONE initiative to provide interoperable workflow solutions that span the entire broadcast delivery chain. Visitors to the Harris IBC booth will see a comprehensive line of products integrated into workflow solutions that are ideal for emerging media business models and for customers upgrading media operations to digital and high-definition services.
"Since introducing our ONE initiative at IBC2006, Harris has invested significant time and resources to bring to market interoperable, cost- effective solutions that solve customers' real-world problems," said Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications. "Developers from across the Harris technology portfolio have collaborated to rethink and redesign traditional broadcast solutions - and our customers are going to benefit from the innovative results."
With the ONE initiative, Harris has committed to innovate along the entire broadcast delivery chain, tying workflow and signal flow together in ways that make customers' organizations more agile and more responsive to change. By providing integration across its comprehensive product portfolio, Harris provides interoperable technology solutions that enable customers to improve workflow, save money, get on air fast with high definition and realize new revenue streams from emerging media markets.
Harris is showing the latest developments in its ONE initiative at IBC2007, including the following:
* NEXIO AMP(TM) - an advanced media platform that pairs a high- performance, high-definition/standard-definition (HD/SD) architecture with a comprehensive range of software-enabled media services to dramatically expand the functionality of video transmission servers. As a broadcaster's needs evolve, the NEXIO AMP(TM) platform is able to integrate signal quality control, channel branding, multiviewer I/O and automation capabilities within its 3RU chassis. * CENTRIO(TM) - a breakthrough multi-image processor featuring superior graphics, broadcast-quality routing and integrated test and measurement tools in a single chassis. CENTRIO(TM) enables unique new capabilities and introduces simplified system designs that can reduce the cost and complexity associated with traditional, large-system monitoring implementations. * Harris Channel ONE(TM) - integrates a high-quality graphics playout server, animations, live video, video clips, audio, real-time external data feeds and master control functionality in a single chassis - providing broadcasters with the necessary components to produce and air complete television channels in high definition or standard definition.
Thorsteinson continued, "NEXIO AMP(TM) dramatically expands the traditional functionality of video transmission servers, providing customers with a solid foundation for a scalable, end-to-end HD/SD television solution. With CENTRIO(TM), the system's superior graphics and router-based architecture enable users to create a streamlined, customized, state-of-the-art monitoring and control tool. And the consolidated functionality of Harris Channel ONE(TM) means that customers no longer have to invest in an entire new broadcast infrastructure and studio to put a secondary channel on air."
