Cable TV Distribution Leader Randy Brown Hikes Over to Outdoor Channel
Association of Independent Programming Networks Co-Founder Joins America's Favorite Channel for Outdoor Enthusiasts
TEMECULA, Calif., Sept. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Outdoor Channel, America's Leader in Outdoor TV announced today the appointment of cable television distribution veteran Randy Brown as Senior Vice President, Affiliate Sales & Marketing. Brown brings nearly 25 years of experience in securing cable, satellite and telco carriage for legacy as well as new programming networks.

A seasoned cable executive and outdoor enthusiast, he most recently led affiliate sales as senior vice president of distribution for The Tennis Channel and served as co-founder for the Association of Independent Programming Networks. Having joined the network in 2001, he was one of the first executives hired during its start-up and established its successful affiliation strategies and policies. Since then, he helped secure carriage with 18 of the top 20 MSO and satellite providers as well as cable launches in 47 of the top 50 markets.

This past summer Brown launched a consulting firm, Widespread Content, where he worked with numerous early stage content clients. Prior to the Tennis Channel, he served as ESPN Vice President, Affiliate Sales and Marketing for their Central Division where he managed a 19 person staff, helped secure unprecedented clearance of NFL Football as a supplemental program series, while also launching ESPN2 and ESPNEWS. Brown began his cable TV career in 1984 at Pro Am Sports System (PASS) Detroit, MI where he was responsible for a wide range of sales and marketing initiatives.
Brown was named to the 2006 CableFax Top 100 Heavy Hitters, and served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Haworth College of Business at Western Michigan University where he was also voted into the University's Marketing Hall of Fame. He has served as a guest lecturer on sports marketing at Northwestern University, Marquette and USC.
