Impello Films' Protecting The King Scheduled For U.S. and International Release by Echo Bridge Entertainment

~Written and Directed by Elvis Presley's Stepbrother and Bodyguard, It's Anything but 'Just Another Elvis Movie'~

DALLAS and LOS ANGELES, Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Remember where you were when the shocking news of Elvis Presley's death hit the airwaves? August 16, 2007 will mark the 30th anniversary of the death of rock music's greatest icon. One man who saw it all is Elvis' stepbrother, director D. Edward (David) Stanley, who takes us there in his new independent feature film, Protecting the King. Stanley's production company, Impello Films, has entered into a distribution agreement with Echo Bridge Entertainment to release Protecting the King throughout the world, including a DVD release in North America on October 9, 2007. The announcement is being made jointly by Impello Films and Echo Bridge.

"We are really excited by the relationship that we have formed with Echo Bridge Entertainment and feel that Protecting the King will be a great asset to the company's highly visible line-up of independent films," said Stanley, president of Impello Films. "With Protecting the King, the world will have an opportunity to discover just what it was like to be behind the curtain with one of the most influential rockers of the 20th century."

"David Stanley has turned his own life experience as a young man into a remarkably honest and dramatically powerful film," said Tim Clott, president of Echo Bridge Home Entertainment. "Viewers can't help but be moved by David's candor about the years he spent as a bodyguard for his stepbrother. For the millions of Elvis fans out there, Protecting the King will offer a highly personal look at the last days of Elvis' life, from the perspective of someone who loved him and looked up to him."

Told for the first time, Protecting the King is Stanley's gripping first-person look back at his life as a teenage roadie and bodyguard for the older stepbrother he adored. The turbulent final years of Elvis' life, and his death in his own bedroom at Graceland, form the backdrop to Stanley's true story of the highs and lows he experienced -- and barely survived -- on the road with The King. Protecting the King also takes people inside the emotional turmoil Stanley experienced when he realized he could shield the man he loved as a big brother, father and mentor from the world around him -- but that in the end, he could not protect Elvis from himself.

Written and directed by Stanley, Protecting the King stars Matt Barr (One Tree Hill), Peter Dobson (Forrest Gump) and Tom Sizemore (Saving Private Ryan). The film already captured international interest at its Cannes screening, telling a story no one has heard until now with a raw honesty that leaves viewers emotionally moved in ways they didn't expect.
