22 Year Old Minnesota Composer to Perform New Music in Honor of I-35 Bridge Victims

 MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 14 /PRNewswire/ --    WHAT            Live lunchtime performance of original work Final Ride                   Home by local pianist Phil Thompson, dedicated to those                   who have suffered from the tragic collapse of the I-35                   bridge.    WHY             Increase awareness of Thompson's related fundraising                   effort. The song can be downloaded from both iTunes and CD                   Baby for 99 cents. Thompson's goal is to raise $1,000,000,                   from 1,000,000 individual downloads.   All proceeds will                   be donated to the Twin Cities Chapter of the American Red                   Cross. Thursday, August 16     Background:     22 year old Phil Thompson, an award winning composer,                   honors composition student at the MacPhail Center for the                   Arts and recent University of Minnesota graduate, has a                   deep commitment to using his musical talents as a way of                   helping others. He composed Final Ride Home as a tribute                   to those whose lives were lost as a result of the I-35                   bridge collapse.                    Brookfield Properties, one of North America's largest                   commercial real estate companies, has invited Thompson to                   perform in City Center's atrium (one of their four                   properties in Minneapolis; others include Gaviidae Common,                   33 South Sixth Street Tower and the Dain Rauscher Plaza)                   as a way of increasing awareness of the fund raising he's                   undertaken.
