'Second Annual Mai Tai Rumble Series Hosted by Radio Personality Richard Blade Offers Emerging Talent a Chance at Stardom'
LONG BEACH, Calif., July 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The summer's hottest musical acts will take the stage at the Mai Tai Bar in Long Beach, Calif. for the annual Mai Tai Bar Rumble. The music series is a weekly competition which showcases the best unsigned talent in Southern California. The Mai Tai Bar Rumble is featuring alternative and reggae-rock bands competing for cash and prizes totaling up to $20,000. Bands will showcase every Thursday night starting Aug. 2, thru Aug. 23. The Mai Tai Bar Rumble is a four night competition featuring a total of eighteen bands representing the genres of alternative and reggae-rock. Band entry submission took place through the month of June and has now closed. Each night, six bands will compete to advance to a finals round to be held on August 23. One alternative and one reggae rock band from each night will move one step closer to the Rumble Champion crown. The winning band in each category will receive cash and prizes worth $10,000.00 which includes an eight week paid residency at the Mai Tai Bar in Long Beach.
Legendary radio personality Richard Blade will host of the Mai Tai Bar Rumble series and co-host the finals round with Murphy Karges from O.C.'s most energetic pop group, Sugar Ray. "I am very excited to be back to host this annual series again because the Mai Tai Bar carries an ultra-cool vibe and there's no other place quite like it," said Blade. "The Mai Tai Bar Rumble competition gives unsigned talent throughout Southern California a chance to be seen and heard by major industry players." Blade is the most famed radio personality in Los Angeles. Born in England, Blade came on the American music scene in 1982 and within a few months became the #1 Arbitron-rated radio personality on the West Coast. Currently, Blade hosts a number of music events throughout the country and a daily radio program on Sirius Satellite channel 22 called First Wave.
As part of the Mai Tai Bar's ongoing effort to bring good music to the local area, they will also be bringing music into the lives of kids who are less fortunate and have chronic illness. Beginning August 13, the Mai Tai Bar will be auctioning a baby Martin & Company acoustic guitar signed by band Sugar Ray with all proceeds benefiting Music for a Cure. The auction will go live on ebay.com.
