Crushpad and Canihan Family Cellars Top 3,000 Wines at San Francisco International Wine Competition

Crushpad and Canihan Family Cellars Top 3,000 Wines at San Francisco International Wine Competition

Canihan 2004 Estate Syrah takes home 'Best of Show' from prestigious competition

SAN FRANCISCO, July 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Crushpad, the urban winery that is democratizing wine making, today announced that one of its first commercial customers, Canihan Family Cellars, has been awarded Best Red Wine in Show and Double Gold Medal at the prestigious San Francisco International Wine Competition.

Bill Canihan's 2004 Estate Syrah was judged best in class by forty-seven distinguished wine industry professionals who rigorously tasted, scored and ranked nearly 3,000 red wines at the three-day competition. Perhaps most remarkable, the Estate Syrah was Canihan Family's first commercial release, with just 170 cases produced.

Canihan Family Cellars' winemaker Alexandra Romanini worked with Crushpad to allow the wine to show its "terroir." It was then brought to market using Crushpad Commerce - the wine industry's first "brand incubator." Crushpad Commerce provides an integrated service for logistics, regulatory and sales & marketing support - everything needed to launch a new world-class wine brand.

"2004 was Crushpad's and Canihan's first year in the wine business, and that year we both learned a lot together. In such a competitive industry, I'm excited for the growth and success of both of us," said Bill Canihan.
