The new PSA was created by America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) in partnership with LULAC and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) to urge individuals with diabetes to take better care of their feet in order to help prevent many of the 82,000 amputations that occur each year as a result of diabetes. The PSA is part of a national diabetes education campaign that is targeting the Hispanic community and other minority populations that face a particularly high risk of diabetes and its complications.

Television, radio, and print versions of the PSA will be released in both English and Spanish.
