RCTV Venezuela Web Broadcasts Reach 100,000 Viewers and 100 Countries Online

WorldTV.com, a global Internet TV provider based in London has tracked more than 100,000 viewers to its online RCTV television service with viewers from 100 countries watching the broadcasts in their first week. Figures were highest in its home country of Venezuela, but viewers were also seen as far afield as Azerbaijan and Mongolia.

RCTV began broadcasting three of its daily newscasts online after ceasing regular transmissions on May 28th following action by the Venezuelan government. The government actions have been widely criticized globally. WorldTV offered to provide free, full screen re-transmissions hosted by YouTube using its multi-lingual interface.

"We wanted to do something to help, there was clearly great demand among the people of Venezuela and right across Latin America for these broadcasts. We've had many messages of support," said WorldTV.com CEO Alx Klive.

WorldTV has used creative marketing techniques coupled with a self-funded advertising campaign to get the word out among the Spanish speaking community.

"We didn't know anyone in Venezuela when we first heard about the story, but now thanks to social networking sites like Facebook, blogs and other sites, we've made connections with many new people. They are grateful that others around the World know of their situation."

WorldTV also placed 5 million ads across the web to advertise the service.
