RoyaltyShare Appoints Ray Farrell as Senior Vice President of Business Development and Label Relations

Leading Royalty Processing Service Names Digital Music Industry Veteran to Guide Worldwide Customer Growth

SAN DIEGO, May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- RoyaltyShare, a premier provider of digital royalty solutions to the entertainment industry, today announced the appointment of Ray Farrell to the position of senior vice president of Business Development and Label Relations. A twenty-year veteran of the music industry, Farrell will play an integral role in RoyaltyShare's domestic and international growth, expanding the company's base of record label customers. Farrell will be based at the company's forthcoming New York office and will report to Steve Grady, president and COO of RoyaltyShare.

Farrell joins RoyaltyShare after seven years with eMusic, where he served as vice president of content acquisition and is credited with signing up most of its 2.5 million tracks, licensed from indie labels from around the world. Managing eMusic's relations with indie trade associations and forging agreements with labels such as Sun, Concord Jazz, Matador, Fantasy Records Touch & Go, Koch and Epitaph, Farrell helped to position eMusic as the leading provider of independent music, second only to iTunes in total downloads.

Prior to eMusic, Farrell spent ten years with Geffen/DGC Records, where he handled A&R and marketing duties for several notable acts including Nirvana, Beck, White Zombie, and Southern Culture On The Skids among others. His career also includes forming and managing the promotion department at SST Records as it reached its pinnacle with an incredible roster, including Black Flag, Sonic Youth, The Minutemen and Husker Du. Farrell entered the music business as a buyer and manager for independently owned record stores and later worked as catalog manager for Rough Trade U.S. Distribution as it first established itself in the United States.

"Ray Farrell brings a unique set of skills to RoyaltyShare," said Bob Kohn, Chairman and CEO of RoyaltyShare. "Ray has worked for and closely with hundreds of record labels around the world and understands the inner workings of their operations, particularly the challenges they face as they transition to digital. We are thrilled to welcome him as part of our team."
