'Late Night with Conan O'Brien' Devotes Entire Show to U2 Thursday, October 6

NEW YORK, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- As the rock superstars roll into New York City for seven sold out shows at Madison Square Garden, U2 will spend an entire hour on NBC's "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" Thursday, October 6 (12:35-1:35 am).

U2 are expected to perform multiple songs. One of the most vital bands in rock, U2 have sold 120 million records worldwide and won 14 Grammy Awards. Their current smash album, "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb," has sold more than three million copies in the U.S. and 10 million worldwide. The band is currently on their sold-out Vertigo 2005 World Tour where they will play to more than 3.3 million people.

U2's Thursday appearance will be the first time that "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" has devoted an entire show to one guest. Other groundbreaking stints by the biggest musical artists of the day on "Late Night" have included a surprise performance by Bruce Springsteen before taking "Late Night" drummer Max Weinberg on the road, a weeklong stay by The White Stripes and a month-of-Tuesdays with The Strokes.

"Late Night with Conan O'Brien" is from NBC Universal Television Studios in association with Conaco and Broadway Video. Lorne Michaels and Jeff Ross are the executive producers. Allan Kartun directs. Mike Sweeney is head writer.
