Sir Ronald Sanders Named to Council of Commonwealth Broadcasting Association
LONDON, September 21/PRNewswire/ -- Sir Ronald Sanders, executive director for international relations and a member of the board of directors of Innovative Communication Corporation today joins the advisory council of the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association.
The CBA, based in London, was founded in February 1945 as the Commonwealth Broadcasting Conference. It began with six members and is today an association of more than 100 broadcasting organisations in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, Australasia, the Pacific, North and South America. It is open to membership of commercial companies with a commitment to public service broadcasting and to allow for affiliate membership.
The Association fosters freedom of expression and the right to communicate, and provides training and bursaries for broadcasters. It also promotes the exchanges among broadcast organisations in 53 countries.
Combining a business, diplomatic, and communications background, Sir Ronald is a former High Commissioner for Antigua and Barbuda to the United Kingdom and Ambassador to the World Trade Organisation. He served as a member of the governing board of UNESCO and of UNESCO's International Programme for the Development of Communication. He is also a past president of the Caribbean Broadcasting Union and a member of the board of directors of the Caribbean News Agency.
He will join on the Advisory Council to the CBA, Baronesss Chalker of Wallasey, the chairman of Africa Matters Ltd and a former minister of the British government responsible for International Development; Mark Galloway, Director of the International Broadcasting Trust in the U.K.; and Pat Laughrey, Director of the BBC Nations and Regions.
Innovative Communication Corporation has management offices in West Palm Beach, Fla. and headquarters in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. Innovative is a privately-held telecom and media company with operations in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, Sint Maarten, Saint-Martin, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Belize and France.
