LG.Philips Displays, the world's leading cathode ray tube (CRT) maker, is headlining the industry's innovation scene with its presentation of the latest TV design possibilities from its Cybertube+ SuperSlim series at the IFA event here from September 1-7, 2005.

While the designs are stylish and refined, they also show they are practical, space saving and fit for the modern lifestyle.

Added to these innovative features are the excellent picture performance and competitive prices that are the trademarks of LG.Philips Displays' products, the latest of which are the SuperSlim series.

At the LG. Philips Displays roadshow (ICC Room 32, IFA Gelande), there are TV set designs for the 21", 29" and 32" Cybertube SuperSlim CRTs.

Driven by its technological breakthrough in CRT, a 21", 29" and 32" TV set using LG.Philips Display's SuperSlim color picture tubes, for example, would measure only 38 cm, delivering an impressive depth reduction of up to 30 percent, compared with any other CRT, and at the same time offering stylish design, best picture quality and the most competitive price to consumers.

Digital technology is the driving force in the consumer industry to bring new and improved products to the end user.

For the television industry, in particular, it will have major impact due to:

- digital TV broadcasting in Standard and High Definition

- the use of high quality picture sources such as DVD video

- the use of image improvement techniques by set manufacturers

These have all increased the demands on color picture tube performance.

LG.Philips Displays' Cybertube+ SuperSlim color picture tube range, with its unique combination of features, has been designed specifically to meet these demands to provide set manufacturers with the surest route to the world of High Definition TV.

The use of SuperSlim tubes will also give TV set makers considerable savings by lowering cost-of-ownership including reduction not only on the product depth but also the logistics costs for transport, warehousing and packaging materials.

Mass production of the SuperSlim has started at the LG.Philips Displays facilities across the world. These are in Gumi and Changwon in Korea and Nanjing in China. Following soon are its factories in Dreux, France and Changsha, also in China.
