Granite Broadcasting Stations Raise More Than $1 Million for Victims of Hurricane Katrina

NEW YORK, Sept. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Granite Broadcasting Corporation (BULLETIN BOARD: GBTVK) announced today that its stations have raised more that $1 million in total donations during the first week of fundraising efforts for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Granite stations utilized live telethons, public service announcements and news coverage to inform members of the community about local relief efforts.

The Company also announced that all of its stations will be participating in the National Association of Broadcasters' (NAB) Broadcast Unity Day initiative on Friday, September 9, 2005. And where possible, the Company's television stations will be using a portion of their digital spectrum to air around-the-clock coverage of the crisis in New Orleans' provided by CBS Channel 4, WWL-TV, owned by Belo Corporation.
