CeCe Winans Reaches Out to Her Southern Fans With Food & Fundraising Drive

Gospel legend CeCe Winans will meet and greet her fans at a food and fundraising drive at the WalMart Super Center in Lancaster, Texas, on Wednesday, September 14, the day after the release of her new album, Purified.

In response to the national emergency in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, what had originally been scheduled as an in-store autograph signing in celebration of the release of Purified will now focus on a food and fundraising initiative designed to provide aid to victims and evacuees of the Gulf Coast disaster. Fans will be able to get their copies of Purified signed by CeCe while simultaneously donating canned foods and funds to hurricane victims, with all proceeds going directly to the American Red Cross. CeCe's Dallas/South Dallas area supporters, fellow Christians, and local media are encouraged to come out and bring whatever they can spare to help provide much- needed relief to those hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina.

Born in Detroit, Michigan to a prominent performing gospel family, CeCe Winans rose to fame while working with her brother, BeBe. Her first solo album, Alone In His Presence, took home a Grammy for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album in 1995. CeCe's next solo outing, 1998's Everlasting Love, became the nation's #1 Top Gospel Album, a feat repeated with 1999's Alabaster Box and 2004's Throne Room. She took home a Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album Grammy in 1991 for Different Lifestyles, as CeCe & BeBe Winans. Other Grammy wins for CeCe Winans include Best Gospel Performance, Female (1989 for "Don't Cry") and Best Soul Gospel Performance, Female (1987 for "For Always"). CeCe Winans is also the recipient of eighteen Gospel Music Association Dove Awards.
