The stars were out and the action was in full force at this year's Taurus World Stunt Awards held on the Paramount Pictures Lot last night. Envisioned by the Red Bull(r) Energy Drink founder Dietrich Mateschitz, the Taurus World Stunt Awards honoured the stunt professionals with their highest reward, the Taurus. Quentin Tarantino, Sylvester Stallone and Vic Armstrong were honoured for their significant contributions to the world of action films. Tarantino: "I wanted to win this award so much. I have an awards shelf, but it needs to get bigger now. I think this is hands down the biggest award that is given out!"
Action movie star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson hosted the event: "The 2005 Taurus World Stunt Awards is all about acknowledging the brave men and women of the stunt community who put their lives on the line and are the backbone of Hollywood," explained Rock. "Tonight, we recognize them, honor them and show them the respect they deserve."
The show with its extraordinary stage design was as breath-taking and thrilling as never before. A new standard in stage design was set by playing with the theme of water and creating an atmosphere of floating. A series of on-stage live stunts that preceded each award category thrilled the crowd: Boat stunts, sharks, splashes and explosions amazed the audience and delivered a unique experience.
Celebrities in attendance at the event or participating in the show included: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Quentin Tarantino, Michelle Rodriguez, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Dennis Hopper, Sylvester Stallone, Daryl Hannah, Robert Rodriguez, Paul Walker and Kiefer Sutherland among many others.
