Harris Corporation Launches H-Class(TM) Alliance Program in Support of Standards for Vendor Interoperability and Improved Workflows
ScheduALL and Marquis named as H-Class(TM) Alliance Program members
CINCINNATI, Aug. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Building on the open, service-oriented architecture of the H-Class(TM) Content Delivery Platform, Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) today announced the launch of its H-Class(TM) Alliance Program, an offering that makes it possible for service, software, content and hardware providers to integrate with the H-Class Platform, enabling their solutions to benefit from the platform's content delivery capabilities. The H-Class Alliance Program benefits media and entertainment customers by facilitating a greater return on content transactions via the consistent management of workflows across departments within the customer's organization. Beginning this month, technology suppliers of the media and entertainment market can participate in the tiered H-Class Alliance Program. Harris today announced that ScheduALL and Marquis are the newest program members.
"Harris' aim for the H-Class Alliance Program is to lower development overhead for increased functionality," said Taras Bugir, chief strategy officer of Harris Broadcast Communications Division's Software Systems business unit. "The H-Class Alliance Program eliminates the island effect of 'best of breed' siloed applications and provides a more collaborative approach to workflow. As such, we've created an ecosystem that supports ever-changing business models and associated workflows."
ScheduALL and Marquis Broadcast are introduced as H-Class compliant members, indicating that their applications take partial advantage of the platform's data model and underlying services such as security, database abstraction, auditing and more. By writing to H-Class framework APIs, members achieve third-party interoperability via custom components that use the common H-Class enterprise workflow methodology.
ScheduALL's front-line resource management and back office accounting interconnectivity solutions integrate with Harris' H-Class(TM) Intelligent Transport application for content management workflow capabilities. ScheduALL's centralized database manages broadcast production resources - such as personnel, facilities, equipment, library/vault assets and broadcast transmissions - and enables detailed cost control and reporting capabilities. ScheduALL's automated communications tools and web service interfaces facilitate wide area workgroup collaboration. ScheduALL's solutions, paired with the functionality inherent in the H-Class Platform, enable users to manage and unite isolated islands of information, access real-time information, and communicate across different functional disciplines within the broadcast environment.
"We are confident that our relationship with Harris will create new levels of efficiencies for our broadcast clients," said Rick Legow, president of ScheduALL. "Integration, along with automation, are critical components in the new business model for media and entertainment. Combining ScheduALL's leading resource management software with Harris' extensive content management and distribution technology creates a true end-to-end solution for broadcasters."
Marquis' new media exchange software, Medway, interfaces with the Harris H-Class Platform, allowing operators to browse an asset management system, locate, and move a particular clip between disparate editing systems and servers, including those from Avid, Omneon, Leitch, SeaChange and Sony.
"By forming close ties with industry leaders such as Harris, we can combine our technologies and understanding of broadcasters' requirements and ensure these are reflected in the Marquis media exchange and software integration solutions for the benefit of our customers," said Granby Patrick, managing director of Marquis Broadcast. "Our relationship with Harris also will help us make our software available to a wider market."
