RockinTown.com Announces Launch
New Site Promotes The Rock Experience
SEATTLE, July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Who is Mars Bonfire? What songs are on Smashing Pumpkins' CD Siamese Dream CD? Where did the Willowz record their latest album?
The answers to these questions and more can be found in one place -- RockinTown.com (www.rockintown.com).
Rockintown.com is the premier site for the rock music fan. In development for five years, RockinTown charts rock 'n' roll's fifty-year history through social and political change. "We created a fun site that shows why things happened when they did," said RockinTown co-founder Mark Clinton.
RockinTown has biographies of over 500 major Rock artists from 1955 to 2005.
The Rockin' Directory (on the homepage) lists artists alphabetically within specific genre or era categories (Morrison Hotel covers late '60s rock acts while Kurt's Used Clothes discusses grunge rock) for easy reference. "Rock music has always been tied to rebellion but every era and genre has had its own issues and viewpoint," said Clinton. "We show the events, both public and personal, that helped shape the music." Each biography has a Discography with recommendations on the artist's essential works.
RockinTown's home page also has Today In Rock, a daily calendar of rock 'n' roll's key dates (births, tours, film premiers, concerts, release dates and passing).
Don't miss RockinTown's list of the Top 13 Rock Albums of All-Time. Click on the artist's name and you can read all about them. Don't think an album is worthy? Go to the RockinTown Forum to express your opinions. "Everyone's tastes are different," said Clinton. "We want to give a voice to the passionate rock music fan. Their opinions count here."
Test your rock music knowledge with RockinTown's Trivia. Each day new trivia questions are posted in twenty different categories.
"We set out to provide the definitive experience for the rock music fan and provide them with entertaining, factual narratives on their favorite artists," said Clinton, who has worked in the broadcast and music industries his entire career. "We have divided the content so advertisers can target their message to the most receptive audience."
