Lincoln Center Choral Concert to Benefit UN FAO

UN's Food and Agriculture Organization is Beneficiary of Alice Tully Hall's 3rd New York International Choral Festival

NEW YORK, June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- World Culture Open, in collaboration with Open Center, is hosting the 3rd New York International Choral Festival on June 28th at 8 p.m. at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall to raise awareness for the United Nation's Food and Agriculture Organization, as well as funds -- all monies from ticket sales and individual contributions will go directly to FAO. The concert is a concerted effort by World Culture Open to highlight and support FAO's tireless efforts in eradicating global poverty and hunger.

Titled "Peace in Harmony," the 3rd New York International Choral Festival will feature a musically rich and culturally diverse repertoire, including the world-renowned gospel ensemble, the Boys Choir of Harlem. Additional concert headliners include the Young People's Chorus of New York City, Jewish People's Philharmonic Chorus, Hai-Tien Chorus (China), Sound of Korea, and the Pyongtaek University Chorus (Korea). Tickets are $30, $50, and $100 and can be purchased at Alice Tully Hall's box office at 212.875.5050 or from World Culture Open's headquarters at 212.244.7200. All monies generated from ticket sales and contributions will go directly to the UN-based Food and Agriculture Organization's Telefood program. Money raised for FAO's TeleFood program pays for small, sustainable projects that help small-scale farmers produce more food for their families and communities. This is World Culture Open's second appearance at Lincoln Center, having hosted the World Culture Open Awards Ceremony at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall in 2004 to celebrate the inaugural awarding of three $100,000 Peace Prizes for Arts and Culture. The 2004 Awards Ceremony featured renowned artists Youssou N'Dour from Senegal, Yair Dalal from Israel, Misia from Portugal and Wyclef Jean from Haiti/US.
