'I am a perfect example of someone who had a desire, a burning desire to do something - a dream. And I lived it.' - Evel Knievel
NEW YORK, June 6 /PRNewswire/ -- He's one of the most recognizable names in sports history, and his exploits and his notoriety may never be duplicated. From an early age he dreamed of being rich and famous, and he created an alter ego for himself. After years of struggle, he did in fact become the world's most famous daredevil -- Evel Knievel.
He has lived out of the public eye for some time. Now, in a new special on The History Channel, Knievel speaks candidly, looking back on his life, his relationships, and his career. His dramatic and often painful story is illustrated by footage from his jumps -- much of which has not been seen in many years. ABSOLUTE EVEL: THE STORY OF EVEL KNIEVEL is a world premiere on The History Channel on Monday, June 13 at 8-10pm ET/PT, hosted and narrated by Matthew McConaughey.
Today Knievel -- a man who says he has no fear -- remains outspoken, outrageous, sometimes hilarious, and always fascinating. But he pays a high price for the life he has led. His health is poor, and he lives in constant pain from the abuse his body suffered during his days as a daredevil. McConaughey has been fascinated since childhood by Evel Knievel and his story; and he plans a feature film about him.
ABSOLUTE EVEL: THE EVEL KNIEVEL STORY is produced by Screaming Flea for The History Channel. Peter Gaffney is Executive Producer for The History Channel.
