PALO ALTO, Calif., June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Electronic design automation (EDA) veterans of the Full Disclosure Blues Band reunite to play at the annual Denali party at the 42nd Design Automation Conference (DAC) Tuesday, June 14, at the House of Blues in Anaheim, Calif. They are joined by the 3rd Street Coalition, led by EDA industry veteran Jim Hogan.
They open for headliner Disco Inferno, who is returning for its sixth straight Denali DAC Party appearance.
Doors open at 6 p.m., the first band takes the stage at 7 p.m., and last call is at 1:30 a.m. Tickets are required for admission. For more information, visit: http://www.denali.com/dac2005.html
"Full Disclosure Blues Band and 3rd Street Coalition sound great and we appreciate all of them for taking the time to play at the party," says Kevin Silver, vice president of marketing for Denali. "It's going to be a fun for everyone."
Members of the Full Disclosure Blues Band include: Aart de Geus, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Synopsys; Bob Gardner, EDA Consortium corporate treasurer; Dave Kelf, vice president of marketing at Novas Software; Dave Neilson of Cadence; Grant Pierce, president of Sonics; Gary Smith, chief analyst at Gartner Dataquest; and Kevin Steptoe, vice president of marketing and business development at Pulsic Ltd.
The 3rd Street Coalition includes: Aaron Garmon; Dave Neilson; Jim Hogan, general partner of Telos Venture Partners; Lamont Hurley; Matt MacConnel, Cadence group director North American Technical Field Operations; and Randy Smith, vice president of marketing and sales at Aprio Technologies.
Says Gary Smith: "The idea for the Full Disclosure Blues Band came out of a Blues Jam that Grant Pierce put together in 2000. After the jam Grant asked me if I would like to help him put together a Blues Band for next DAC. I agreed and suggested Aart de Gues as lead guitar. The name Full Disclosure came from Aart.
"So there you have it, the history (so far) of the Full Disclosure Blues Band."
According to Jim Hogan, 3rd Street Coalition has been around for a long time. "Everyone has had a lot of experience playing in a variety of bands and types of music. The origins of this band happened a few years ago. I was asked by my neighbors to turn it down some. That resulted in me building a studio for recording and playing at a house I have on 3rd Street in San Jose. Along the way we outfitted it with sound proofing and instruments.
"We start playing late Sunday afternoons until about 9 at night. This grew into also playing Wednesday nights to catch people who might be in town during the week. It became our bowling night. This is where the tradition started. It has since grown into a 3rd Street Social Club. It is a place where we can forget about the realities of our professions and just play. Sometimes there is magic and the magic is worth the effort in any regard."
