60 Cameras, 60 Seconds, One Moment on Earth

60 Cameras, 60 Seconds, One Moment on Earth

PORTLAND, Ore., June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Satellite Films reveals the first two films of its independent series A Moment on Earth(TM).

On August 5th, 2004 at 12:00 p.m. GMT, and again exactly 12 hours later, 60 cinematographers in over forty countries across all seven continents captured the world's first Moment on Earth.

Coordinated by Satellite Films, each camera operator focused on the life of a single individual. Planned according to respective time zones so that everyone would be shooting at the same instant, the camera operators were instructed to film a "hero" of their choosing - capturing their life as they would live it on any day.

From a trader on the floor of Brazil's Sao Paulo Stock Exchange to a young man in the flaming deserts of northern Iraq; from a scientist at Palmer Station outpost in Antarctica to five monks at a sanctuary in Krabi, Thailand and a wild group of bike riders near Sturgis, Wyoming - the events and everyday heroes captured in the films span a spectrum of emotions and speak to what it is to be human and alive on our planet today.

These moments comprise the first two films of the A Moment on Earth(TM) series: "A Moment on Earth" and "A Moment on Earth: 12 Hours Later," which are currently in post-production and scheduled for completion starting in the Summer of 2005.

Also learn about the unique entrepreneurial efforts undertaken to finance the films, read quotes, and sign up to receive updates on the project and opportunities to get involved in the next Moment. "It is a real journey of juxtaposition - to see so much of our cruel, crazy and beautiful world at one time," Jereme says.

Director/Producer Jereme Axelrod is a graduate of Wesleyan University's film program and has worked on independent film projects around the world. After collaborating on a feature-length documentary in Baton Rouge, he founded Satellite Films in Portland to begin production on "A Moment on Earth."
