VH1.com Online Franchise Makes Leap to VH1 in May to Introduce Viewers to Brightest New Acts on the Music Scene
NEW YORK, May 2 /PRNewswire/ -- VH1 is laying out its red carpet in May to welcome and support new music artists that the network thinks "you oughta know" about including John Legend, Keane and Anna Nalick.
Launched last year on VH1.com, the "You Oughta Know" franchise introduces promising new acts that VH1 thinks will appeal to its adult music lover base. The "You Oughta Know" package features streamed music, "Live @ VH1.com" performances, interviews, tour updates and photos.
Previous "You Oughta Know" artists have included: The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Snow Patrol, Scissor Sisters and many more.
The "You Oughta Know" franchise is now expanding to the VH1 television network, promoting new artists even more once they've been featured on VH1.com while educating VH1 viewers about the new artists who are quickly making an impact on the music scene.
"VH1's 'You Oughta Know' franchise is a true partnership with emerging artists and their labels, leveraging the promotional power of all our platforms -- VH1, VH1.com and our off-air marketing campaigns," said Rick Krim, Executive Vice President, Music and Talent Relations. "This initiative further expands our commitment to introducing our viewers to the best new artists and music out there."
VH1 Flexes Promotional Muscle for "You Oughta Know" Artists On-Air, Online and Off-Air
Once a "You Oughta Know" artist video premieres on VH1, the video then joins the channel's daily music video line-up with bumpers that designate the artist as someone "You Oughta Know."
In addition, a 30-second spot from the artist's video will run during on- air program credit crunches, recommending that viewers learn more and hear more about the artist at VH1.com, which will continue to feature extensive music and info about the selected act.
Artist updates are also featured in VH1 News packages that run during the network's music video hours in the morning with an invitation to learn more at the VH1 web site.
VH1 extends its "You Oughta Know" franchise off air via VH1 end caps in 250 Borders Books and Music stores across the country. End caps feature the "You Oughta Know" branding and postcards about featured artists. VH1 also sponsors various national in-store performances by "You Oughta Know" artists throughout the year.
