Signs Partnership Agreement With Planet X's P.O.V.
Encore Wam and Planet X's P.O.V. Will Co-Produce New Series, 'Encore Wam's Planet XYZ'
Series Will Include Sixty, Special Action Packed Episodes Featuring Behind the Scenes Extreme Sports Clips, Athlete Interviews and More
ENGLEWOOD, Colo., May 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Encore Wam and San Diego based P.O.V. (Planet One Ventures, Inc.), the production unit behind the hit Planet X Television series, make waves with their partnership in the production of a sixty-episode series, "Encore Wam's Planet XYZ." The original series, exclusive to Encore Wam, will highlight the world famous action sports scene, its pro athletes, plus give you the "story behind the story" with a unique look at the athleticism and know-how needed to shoot and produce action sports.
Each week, the XYZ Crew will hang with the planet's best skaters, surfers, snowboarders, moto-x'rs and other extreme sports greats as they appear on camera with the Planet X roster of athlete hosts. The XYZ Crew consists of teen surfer journalists, Kent and Kyle Healy, who will bring you the action under the direction of 17-year-old producer Jessie Durban. "With my uncle being the founder of Planet X I grew up around the world's best surfers and skaters and have really grown to love action sports," stated Durban.
"We're excited to partner with Encore Wam to produce the show, which takes action sports to a whole new level," said Don Phillip Durban, founder of Planet X. "Jessie will keep the XYZ Crew on their feet and the audience in laughter with her angle of extreme sports -- making 'Encore Wam's Planet XYZ' must-see teen TV."
"'Encore Wam's Planet XYZ' is a hot addition to our summer line-up with its mix of action sports, the action behind the scenes and the humorous interaction of our teen hosts," said Midge Pierce, vice president Encore Wam programming. "As we strive to showcase programming that appeals to today's teens, we felt that partnering with the Planet X -- P.O.V. team to produce this show was a perfect fit."
The Healy brothers are the perfect pair for hosting "Encore Wam's Planet XYZ" as they are avid action sports athletes who spend their free time surfing, snowboarding, wakeboarding and biking. They are also self-published authors, who wrote a book drawing from their life experiences to pump up teens called "Cool Stuff They Should Teach in School." Series host, Kent Healy stated, "The opportunity of working on 'Encore Wam's Planet XYZ' is really exciting! Ever since the release of our 'Cool Stuff' book, we've seen the power of the media and what it can do to inspire today's teens." Brother Kyle added, "I grew up watching Planet X and can't believe Kent and I will be on the hosting roster this summer on Encore Wam!"
