Scot McLernon Named Senior Vice President, Advertising, CBS Digital Media
Sales Veteran to Oversee All Sales Activities for CBS.com, UPN.com, CBSNews.com and CBS SportsLine.com
NEW YORK, April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Scot McLernon has been named Senior Vice President, Advertising, CBS Digital Media, it was announced today by Larry Kramer, President of the division. McLernon, who oversaw sales functions for MarketWatch.com, will now lead sales operations for CBS's digital properties, including CBS.com, UPN.com, CBSNews.com and CBS SportsLine.com. He will be based in New York and will report to Kramer.

McLernon is one of the pioneers of Internet advertising, having been a part of the industry from its infancy. He spent the last seven years leading the sales force of MarketWatch.com, the Internet's leading financial site. His team was frequently cited by Forrester for highest revenue per sales person, won best business and finance site to advertise with four years in a row, and this past year won the acclaimed ASPY award as Best Overall Sales Team on the web (The ASPY group is made up of over 100 agency votes).
Throughout his career McLernon has been touted as an industry thought leader and credited for pushing the webs advertising capabilities. In 2000, he introduced day-part advertising to the web. In 2001, he led a campaign to recognize that Internet advertising campaigns had significantly more value to advertisers than just reported clicks - by proving through research that traditional brands benefited by their exposure to a web audience. In 2002, amidst the ad recession, McLernon created the At Work Brand Network - a group of like publishers and competitors built to rival the size and reach of the major portals. In 2003, he was a founder of the seller's forum where 30 of the top brands sales VP's share and work out industry issues in an open but moderated forum. And in 2004, McLernon co-founded the Bay Area Interactive Group (BIG), which is focused on educating and networking the bay area's interactive marketing community.
McLernon entered the business in 1995, selling some of the web's initial banners and interactive booths for the web's first online and offline trade show titled "Web Innovation."
