L.A. Area Journalists: Last Chance to Buy Tickets to SPJ Annual Awards Banquet on Tue., April 5
LOS ANGELES, April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Time is running out for you to buy tickets to the Society of Professional Journalists' 29th annual awards banquet on Tue., April 5.
Highlights include a silent auction featuring:
-- Get your motor running: Let San Francisco Chronicle Editor Phil Bronstein take you out to lunch at a funky, waterfront restaurant and then hit the highway on the back of his motorcycle! (Must travel to San Francisco)
-- The REAL Law & Order: Dine with L.A. County District Attorney Steve Cooley and take a tour of the office.
-- Candid camera: Decorate your home with signed prints by SPJ Distinguished Journalist and Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Carolyn Cole, of the Los Angeles Times.

SPJ's Greater Los Angeles Professional Chapter will honor some of the region's best journalists at this year's banquet:
-- The winners of the 2004 Distinguished Journalist awards are: Carolyn Cole, Los Angeles Times; Jim Hattendorf, KCBS-TV and KCAL-TV; Mark Lacter, Los Angeles Business Journal; Ed Pyle, KNX-AM.
-- The winner of the Freedom of Information award is Susan Seager, of the L.A. office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP.
-- This year's keynote speaker is Phil Bronstein, executive vice president and editor of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Proceeds will be used to provide journalism scholarships, support our legal defense fund and benefit our chapter, a nonprofit group run by volunteers.
