CBS 46 Atlanta Introduces Most Powerful Weather Forecasting Technology Available

New Three Dimensional Tracking Device Pinpoints Storms Down to Two Square Feet

ATLANTA, April 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CBS 46 (NYSE:MDP), Atlanta's home for America's most watched network, today launched the regions most powerful technology for tracking storms, FIRST Track 3D. The technology, which is the first to the Atlanta market, is a three-dimensional forecasting system that pinpoints to two square feet where the storms have hit and where they are heading.

The system, that shows with exact precision incoming storms in multi- dimensional form, permits Stormtracker 46 meteorologists to not only see which house in Georgia was hit by lightning, but also to determine with unprecedented accuracy the direction of the storm. The immediate paths of tornadoes, hurricanes and general storms can be predicted with exactness unparalleled in the market up to thirty minutes into the future.

FIRST Track 3D, (which stands for floods, ice, rain, storms and tornados in 3 dimension) will make its debut tomorrow on CBS46 News at 4pm and will be introduced by the station's chief meteorologist Gene Norman. The tracking device is the latest in a series of weather monitoring innovations that Mr. Norman, who spent eight years working for NASA developing software to monitor weather for the Space Shuttle, has introduced to the station. This makes the Stormtracker 46 Team the most technologically advanced station in the market for forecasting and tracking weather, and supports their brand promise of CBS 46: Weather in Your Neighborhood.

"Meteorologists predict the weather by studying current conditions and interpreting the patterns," said Gene Norman, Stormtracker 46 chief meteorologist. "FIRST Track 3D provides us with the most accurate, multi- dimensional image of existing and changing weather movements to allow these predictions to be the most precise in the market."

"This technology is unprecedented in the marketplace," said Andy Alford, vice president and general manager for CBS 46. "We are delighted to provide our viewers with the most accurate picture of current and future weather conditions, to empower them to take all necessary precautions to protect themselves and their families."

CBS 46 and the Stormtracker 46 Team is able to see and deliver to their viewers, information on how the storms are distributed both vertically and horizontally and therefore allow closer monitoring of weather movements, how quickly a storm is likely to develop and a storm's power.
