Zoran Demonstrates New SupraHD 640 High Definition Digital Television Processor in Beijing at CCBN 2005

Provides Lowest System Cost for Enabling FCC-Compliant Televisions and ATSC-Compliant Set Top Boxes

SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Zoran Corporation (NASDAQ:ZRAN) announced that it is demonstrating its new SupraHD 640 high definition television processor and FCC-Compliant solutions next week in Beijing at CCBN 2005.

"The television market is rapidly transitioning from analog to digital driven by the FCC mandate that all new televisions with screen sizes greater than 13 inches must contain a built-in digital receiver by July 2007. The SupraHD product line has been developed to enable our customers to accelerate the transition to FCC-compliant televisions and ATSC-compliant set top boxes within the prescribed timeframes and at the lowest possible system costs," said Ram Ofir, senior vice president and general manager at Zoran's DTV division. "We are expecting to see a whole new class of very affordable high definition television compatible receivers, terrestrial set top boxes and TV recorder products come to market as a result of the integrated solutions delivered by the SupraHD product line."

The new SupraHD 640 high definition television processor integrates all the necessary capabilities required to support the decoding and display of ATSC content into a single chip and provides the lowest possible system cost for manufacturers of CRT televisions and set top box products. OEMs can easily integrate the SupraHD solution into existing analog TV products converting them into FCC-compliant products.

Reference platforms for the SupraHD 640 are available and shipping to strategic customers. They include hardware ready for manufacturing and complete middleware stacks with TV application and closed-caption support. Zoran will also introduce a highly optimized ATSC receiver module designed to be integrated into existing analog TV chassis. With minimum changes, CRT-based TV products can be made FCC compliant. Turnkey solutions based on SupraHD 640 are now available from leading OEMs.

The SupraHD 640 solution includes a transport processor, high definition MPEG video decoder, MIPS CPU, and Zoran's proven HDXtreme video processing and picture enhancement technology. The IC supports a variety of system interfaces including an infrared receiver, flash memory, and a highly optimized DDR SDRAM interface. The decoded ATSC video streams can be output in component, composite and S-video formats. Audio can be output via an SPDIF interface or in analog format using the chip's integrated audio digital to analog converters.

Designed to use minimum external components, the SupraHD 640 requires only memory, an ATSC demodulator and tuner, and a small number of passive components to build a complete digital TV receiver.

The first two members of the SupraHD family, SHD-660 and SHD-680, announced in January, set new standards in system integration for digital television chassis, combining traditional digital functions and highly integrated connectivity with advanced capabilities for analog video capture and display.

The SupraHD 640 is shipping and complete reference platforms with optimized software and application packages are available for qualified Zoran customers.
