LOS ANGELES, March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Nickelodeon's 18th Annual Kids' Choice Awards will dazzle with megastar wattage, as today's hottest entertainers join host Ben Stiller for the live telecast Saturday, April 2 (8 p.m. ET; tape delay PT). Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake, Chris Rock, Halle Berry, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Adam Brody, Jimmy Fallon, Will Ferrell, Jamie Lynn Spears, Lil' Romeo, Amber Tamblyn, Alyssa Milano, Amanda Bynes, Frankie Muniz, Hilary Duff, Mischa Barton, Mia Hamm, Jessica Alba, Drake Bell, Josh Peck, Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants), Jesse McCartney and Devon Werkheiser are slated to appear. And three-time Kids' Choice Award winner Will Smith will mark his first award show musical performance in three years with the debut of Switch from his upcoming album "Lost and Found."
"We're so happy that so many of today's hottest celebrities and performers want to be part of Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards," said Marjorie Cohn, Executive Vice President, Development and Original Programming. "It's a true testament of kid power when megastars like Will Smith choose them to be among the first to share special moments like a long-awaited live performance."
Playing a key part in the grand plan, multi-platinum selling punk-pop quintet Simple Plan will rock UCLA's Pauley Pavilion by performing Shut Up!, their latest single off their current sophomore album "Still Not Getting Any." Stiller (Meet the Fockers) will helm the boisterous, slime-filled live proceedings for the first-time on the night kids rule and Hollywood royalty revels with them.
True to tradition, the no-holds-barred mess/kudos fest will attempt to capture a world record with this year's never-been-done-before stunt: shooting a human cannonball into the sky before landing in a giant pool of slime. Additionally, one special star will be presented with the Wannabe Award -- an honor bestowed on a celebrity role model who kids most "want to be." Past recipients include Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Adam Sandler and Janet Jackson. Concluding the event is the climactic Nickelodeon celebrity sliming which will drench an astonished star with green goo, inciting shrieks of delight from the crowd. Past wearers of the green include Mike Myers, Adam Sandler, Tom Cruise, Jim Carrey, Rosie O'Donnell, and 2004 recipients Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
U-Pick Live's Brent Popolizio, Candace Bailey and Pick Boy will kick off the night with a unique pre-show featuring celebrity interviews on the orange carpet, to be telecast immediately preceding the Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards.
