Virgin Megastores Host '100 Acts of Support - The Concerts for Banda Aceh' Virgin Megastore Chain to Host 100 Live Band Performances in a Single Day to Raise Money for Tsunami Victims LOS ANGELES, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Virgin Entertainment Group, North America, announces today the company will host 100 Acts of Support - The Concerts for Banda Aceh on Thursday, January 20th, at all twenty U.S. Virgin Megastores. The one-day event will include 100 live band/artist performances across the country, with all proceeds from the event being donated to the Music for Relief Fund in conjunction with the American Red Cross fundraising efforts, for the victims of last month's tsunami. "We've all seen the pictures from south Asia. It's heartbreaking and we want to try and do our part to raise money to help those hardest hit," explains Dave Alder, chief marketing officer, Virgin Entertainment Group, North America. "We are looking to stage a minimum of five acts at each of our U.S. Virgin Megastores, and we're hoping this event will draw a large crowd. This is a way for musicians, fans and Virgin Megastores to work together to raise funds in a fast way." Virgin Megastores plan to send the relief funds from the 100-act concert to victims in Banda Aceh, the province in Indonesia that was one of the hardest hit by the December 26 disaster. Fans who attend the concert will be offered the chance to purchase a bracelet which will allow them an opportunity to show their support for the event. Each Virgin Megastore will also display donation boxes and host a silent auction, with all proceeds from the bracelets, donation boxes and auction going to the fundraising effort.
