Teens To Be Immersed in Italian Art and Culture This Summer

Teens To Be Immersed in Italian Art and Culture This Summer Academic Study Associates Launches Three-Week Arts and Humanities Study Abroad Program in Venice WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- High school juniors and seniors have the opportunity to be immersed in the contemporary and renaissance art and architecture of Venice for three weeks in a new study abroad program offered by Academic Study Associates (ASA). Offering academically challenging and socially exciting summer programs to young adults, ASA's newest study abroad program -- called Venice: State-of- the-Art -- exposes student to lectures by experts in art and architecture including curators, artists, professors and authors at the historic institute of the Canossiani Order in the Dorsoduro district of Venice. ASA students can take Italian, drawing, painting and photography classes and will be given private tours of the Guggenheim Museum and the studios of internationally recognized contemporary artists living in Venice to enhance their experience and knowledge. Students will also be introduced to the historical, geographical and political significances of Venice beyond a normal sightseeing visit. The Venice: State-of-the-Art program is hosted in July to coincide with Venice Biennale, one of the most prestigious contemporary art events in the world. "The unique character of Venice and its cosmopolitan outlook means that it has been welcoming students and travelers for over 1,500 years," said David Evans, vice president, Academic Study Associates. "With its abundance of art, history and exquisite beauty, Venice is the perfect setting for young adults to learn and explore art, its history and its profound impact on society. The beauty of having Venice as the 'classroom' creates a fun and interesting environment for our students." ASA was founded on the principle that a structured study abroad program can help to expand and enrich the minds of young adults, while helping them to transition from high school to college. No previous experience of art history or knowledge of Italian is needed to participate in ASA's Venice-State-of-the- Art program.
