QUALCOMM Appoints Pertti Johansson President of QUALCOMM Europe - Johansson Brings More Than 30 Years of Telecom and High-Tech Experience to the Pioneer of 3G Technologies - LONDON, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- QUALCOMM Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, today announced the appointment of Pertti Johansson as president of QUALCOMM Europe and a Company vice president. Johansson, a native of Finland, will be responsible for the leadership of QUALCOMM's European business and the continued development of QUALCOMM's business as WCDMA (UMTS) networks are deployed. Johansson will be based in QUALCOMM's London offices. "Pertti brings more than 30 years of telecom leadership experience and knowledge and he is the ideal person to drive QUALCOMM's continued growth in Europe," said Jeff Jacobs, president of Global Development, QUALCOMM. For the previous two years Johansson was an independent management consultant and advisor, specializing in customer acquisition strategy and strategic account management in the telecom industry. Prior to his consulting practice, Johansson worked for Motorola for more than 16 years, most recently as senior vice president and director of global account management. Before joining Motorola, he spent 14 years at ITT Corporation, a USD$40 billion conglomerate, with increasing responsibilities in technical, marketing and various leadership positions in its world headquarters and subsidiaries in Norway, France, Finland and the United States.
