Media Lab Releases SiteGrinder 1.0

Media Lab Releases SiteGrinder 1.0 New Plug-in for Adobe Photoshop Enables Graphic Designers to Easily Produce Entire Websites LONGMONT, Colo., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Media Lab Inc. today announced the release of SiteGrinder 1.0, a new website production plug-in for Adobe Photoshop. An intuitive method of adding one-word hints, such as "rollover" or "menu", to the names of layers in Photoshop allows web beginners and experts alike to convert a Photoshop design into a sophisticated web site in a single click -- whether for ultra-rapid prototyping or for final production. SiteGrinder generates styled and even scrolling web text, rollover buttons, popups, and multi-level menus. Interactive elements can be constructed from graphics, text, or a mix of both, and function across multiple web pages that are automatically linked to one another. "The elegance of SiteGrinder's basic idea -- that naming Photoshop layers is a great way to indicate the intended functions of those layers -- produces an unusual combination of both power and simplicity. Using SiteGrinder is a little like finally getting a TiVo after struggling with your VCR for ten years!" explains Media Lab President Tom Summerall. The busy schedules of web technicians often delay the website projects of graphic designers and marketing departments. Once technicians are finally able to begin work there is often confusion about exactly how the needed web pages should behave. SiteGrinder allows a designer to express their functionality requirements within a Photoshop document and then build the site themselves. It turns a designer's skill with Photoshop directly into skill with web design, hiding the complexities of HTML without limiting power. "The designer thinks about graphic design and functionality while SiteGrinder worries about the details of actually slicing efficient graphics and programming modern, error-free HTML code," says Chris Perkins, Media Lab CEO and SiteGrinder head programmer. Web programmers who are accustomed to manually adapting Photoshop designs into web pages will be able to use SiteGrinder to speed up their work and eliminate complex and tedious slicing, linking, and compromising. Web technicians can even add SiteGrinder hints to designs submitted to them by non-SiteGrinder users to quickly generate a site's visual layout, button functionality, and navigation between pages. This allows them to spend more time on challenges unique to a site, such as database functionality. Tom Summerall comments, "There's a special look you see on people's faces the first time they 'get it' about SiteGrinder. It means they realize that with all the annoying work SiteGrinder will automate for them, all that's left is the fun stuff." PRICING AND AVAILABILITY Available for Mac OS X and Windows computers running Photoshop 6.0 or higher. The SiteGrinder unlockable demo is available now via download from http://www.medialab.com/. Introductory pricing for the download version is $US 99. SiteGrinder 1.0 can be ordered from Media Lab's online store at http://www.medialab.com/store or by phone at 800-282-5361.
