Receives Patent for Tracking Firewall-Related Traffic Events Newly Patented Technology Provides World Map for Traffic Event Tracking SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- McAfee, Inc., (NYSE:MFE), the pioneer and worldwide leader of intrusion prevention solutions, today announced that it has been granted US Patent 6,839,852 entitled "Firewall system and method with network mapping capabilities" which covers various programs and products for tracking traffic events using firewall technology. This is accomplished by tracing and displaying traffic events with a world map. To this end, various traffic events may be tracked, providing an indication as to where the traffic events occur in the world. According to a particular example, among many encompassed by the granted patent, a firewall is utilized for monitoring traffic events between a local and remote computer. Such traffic events are then displayed and traced utilizing the firewall. This functionality results in a world map display with an illustration of the trace. Optionally, the present technology may be embodied in a personal firewall. Further, the displayed trace may optionally depict network segments spanning different cities of different countries displayed on the world map. Thus, a user can geographically trace various traffic events.
