The Logistics Institute at GA Tech Offers New Course on Strategic Sourcing New Strategic Sourcing Course Designed to Help Logistics Professionals Source and Procure More Effectively ATLANTA, Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- The Logistics Institute ( http://www.tli.gatech.edu/ ) at Georgia Tech is pleased to announce the addition of a new course to their 2005 curriculum - Strategic Sourcing Short Course. This new course will help logistics professionals understand the variety of options that are available on how to source and procure more effectively. The Strategic Sourcing Short Course, which will be directed by Dale Atkins of Georgia Tech and John White of Adjoined Consulting's Strategy Services Practice, will be held February 8-10, 2005 at the Global Learning & Conference Center in Atlanta, GA. When looking throughout the Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing (direct material) is new to many companies. Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) is of increased importance (outsourcing relationships and supplier relationships are very dynamic.) One of the most important things to understand is the variety of options that are available on how to source and procure effectively and figuring out that approach without the proper framework can be difficult. The framework and step-by-step approach are addressed in the Strategic Sourcing Short Course. Dale Atkins, one of the course directors, has been associated with the material handling industry for 25 years. As a researcher and previously the Associate Director of the Material Handling Research Center and The Logistics Institute, he has worked as a liaison between Georgia Tech and hundreds of industries over the last two decades. He has been a Course Director for related short courses for the last 20 years. The other course director, John White, is the Managing Officer of Adjoined Consulting's Strategy Services Practice. He has been consulting in the Products industries for over 15 years.
