Gunther von Hagens' BODY WORLDS 2 News Conference and Media Preview, 8:30 a.m. on January 28, 2005 WHAT: Members of the media are invited to a news conference and media preview of BODY WORLDS 2. In response to the tremendous popularity of "BODY WORLDS: The Anatomical Exhibition of Real Human Bodies," BODY WORLDS 2 will be on display for the first time in America at the California Science Center, January 29, 2004 through March 27, 2005. Since July, more than 651,000 guests have visited BODY WORLDS, distinguishing it as the most well attended special exhibit in California Science Center history. BODY WORLDS 2 equals its predecessor in size and proportion, comprising 20,000 sq. feet, and more than 200 plastinated real human body specimens including more than 25 whole bodies, healthy and unhealthy organs, body parts and slices. Dr. Gunther von Hagens, creator of BODY WORLDS and inventor of the plastination technique, has designed BODY WORLDS 2 to reveal significant insights about human anatomy, physiology and health not available in the previous exhibit. Highlights include five all-new, never seen before plastinates including, the "Suicide by Fat -- Obesity Revealed" specimen, which shows fat tissue and its ability to shorten life by damaging vital organs like the heart and bones and a "Cube Head" plastinate, that acts as a 3D puzzle showing us the density of the human head. These and other real preserved human specimens present an unprecedented view of the structure and function of the human body and offer an unforgettable lesson on the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle.
