Detroit Auto Dealers Association Donates $50,000 to Tsunami Relief Efforts TROY, Mich., Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to the devastation caused by the Dec. 26 South Asian tsunamis, the Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA) today made a $50,000 donation to the Salvation Army tsunami relief efforts through Detroit-based NBC affiliate WDIV-Local 4 and its "A Gift for Galle" donation campaign. "In face of the destruction and heartache caused by this natural disaster, we hope that our donation helps aid the people working in earnest to rebuild and rehabilitate the South Asian communities suffering from this calamity," said Robert Thibodeau Jr., president of the DADA. "We're appreciative of WDIV-Local 4 News' efforts to marshal resources to provide financial aid and relief. The United States alone has raised more than $350 million and we are proud to contribute." The Salvation Army along with WDIV-Local 4 has raised more than $1.7 million for the cause thus far. The DADA, founded in 1908, represents more than 260 automobile dealers owning 240 dealerships. The DADA dealers sell 40 different vehicle lines in 64 cities through the metropolitan Detroit area. The DADA supports its membership through legislative and industry representation, educational programs and communications and community relations activities. The dealers and their approximately 16,500 employees support their communities through extensive charitable involvement. More than 75 percent of DADA members donate their time and resources to two or more charitable organizations. Metro Detroit auto dealers own and manage the North American International Auto Show.
